It is a real sport
Training builds strength, stamina, balance and reflexes. Expect proper warm-ups, conditioning and drills — the same discipline you would find in any athletic team.
Join the Troupe
Lion and dragon dance is for everyone — students, working adults, first-timers and lifelong fans. If you have ever watched a performance and thought "I want to be part of that", this is your invitation. Come train with us, learn the drums, carry the lion, and find a second family.
Life in the Troupe
A look at what being part of Hong Quan really feels like — from sweaty practice nights to the roar of the crowd on performance day, and the long, loud journeys in between.
Why Join Us
If your only picture of lion dance is loud drums and back-alley events, we would love to change that. Today our troupe trains like athletes, performs on big public stages, supports charities and community celebrations, and welcomes anyone who wants to learn. No connections, no background, no experience required — just a good attitude and a willingness to try.
Training builds strength, stamina, balance and reflexes. Expect proper warm-ups, conditioning and drills — the same discipline you would find in any athletic team.
You will learn rhythms, choreography and storytelling with the drums, cymbals, lion and dragon. It is culture you can feel, not just watch.
We train, eat and celebrate together. Seniors mentor juniors, and everyone looks out for one another inside and outside the practice hall.
Students, working adults, beginners and experienced dancers — all backgrounds are welcome. Respect and effort matter far more than your resume.
